On fish and plankton

I love living in S but I really do miss the social life I had in N. Not just friends, but also people I vaguely knew, pubs I sometimes played and so on. There was a wider range of options of things to do when feeling a bit meh.
Making new friends completely from scratch is hard. Building a social life that covers all aspects of social contact is even harder. Friends are like fish and acquaintances are like plankton. An ocean with only fish is not a healthy ocean. You also need plankton around you, for when you just don't need or want a whole fish, but want to fill yourself with a several bits of plankton instead.
I suppose I miss feeling at home in a place, rather than always being consciously aware of where I am.
 It's not "home" yet.
